18 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2026 | Happy Easter everyone! April is such a fun month to begin new projects. Winter is officially over, the sun is warm and inviting, and the f lowers are in full bloom. It is easy to gain inspiration at this time of the year. With the onset of daylight savings time, bright light streams through the windows in our sewing rooms lighting up everything from fabrics to threads. And Easter brings with it a plethora of fun ideas for quilting. Speaking of seasonal inspiration, our very own Linda Piraino was recently awarded First Place for Hand Applique and Best of Show in our local Valley Quilters Quilt Guild 46th Annual Quilt Show for her entry 'Forest Friends.' Held at Valley Wide Recreation Center every February this Quilt Show is a great opportunity to come out and shop, meet fellow quilters and to truly appreciate the vast talent we have in our Valley. Janet Swindell inspired us all with her spring beauty of f lowers on alternating green squares as she 'quilted' it herself on her sewing/embroidery machine. Most quilting, (or the finishing of a quilt sandwich) is done on a more sophisticated and expensive Long Arm, designed strictly for quilting. Janet's love for our craft challenges her to consistently try new techniques, passionately empowering her creativity. Joan Torbett, a veteran in our craft, and like most of our members inherited the generational gene of quilting from their mothers and grandmothers. Appropriately named, 'Alaska' Joan's quilt beautifully exemplifies her years of talent. Like fine art, what is seen is truly in the eyes of the beholder. One may be captivated by the colorful garb of Eskimos and Totem Poles, while another sees the whimsical windmills and free-f lying kites of spring. Great inspiration ladies, thank you! Seasons Quilters meets every Thursday in the Arts & Crafts Room from 10 am to 4 pm breaking for lunch at the Bistro at 12:30. Our April meetings will be on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th. For more information about quilting, activities, fun projects and forming forever friendships, stop by the Craft Room and see what's sewing! We would love to meet you.
