| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2026 | 23 What's up with this weather, sudden weather changes that cause "weather whiplash," often happening overnight? Yet, we're going to take our chances and hope not to be caught in the rain. It's been so unpredictable, we don't know if tomorrow means shorts or pants, sleeveless or long sleeves, sweater or no sweater, or even a jacket? We headed out to the Safari Park, in Escondido with our fingers crossed for no rain. There was rain in the forecast, but not until evening. As we got to Temecula, it started sprinkling, and continuing I-15 passing Pechanga, it's raining. No worries, we had a back-up plan. If it was raining once there, we would have enjoyed a "Drive Day" of cruising and we'd spend social time with lunch in Escondido. When we arrived, the sun was brightly shining and there was no sign of rain, YAY! We gathered onto the African Tram seeing rhinos, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes with two babies, gazelles and various antelope species roaming freely. Like walking through a botanical garden, there was a vast variety of trees and plants, many which were already blooming with brilliant-colored f lowers. Coming is a massive new elephant habitat called "Denny Sanford Elephant Valley" that will bring us back. It was a enjoyable and energizing day outdoors. The Ladies dressed up for an evening event, "Tour Of Italy" Friends of Valley-Wide for their annual fundraiser. It provided dinner, a live and silent auction with a grand prize drawing. A wonderful organization providing youth sport scholarships One of our mottos is "Giving Back to the Community." There are two nonprofits community-based organizations we are supporting and donating to this year. They are "Reach" and "ReStart." "Reach" provides help services to children, teens and adult victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking. Our donations will be designated to support children and teens. Sharon Stout is our liaison for "ReStart," who helps families in need, immediate temporary housing, essential resources such as career training, childcare assistance helping to prevent homelessness, having a need for everyday items that we take for granted.
