It posed a religious and political challenge to the Papacy and the authority of the Catholic Church hierarchy. It marked the beginning of Protestantism. It is considered one of the events that signified the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the early modern period in Europe. The Reformation is usually dated from Martin Luther's publication of the 95 Theses, in 1517, that challenged the authority of the Catholic Church. Marty Mangan presented Part 1 in February and will present Part 2 at the meeting of the History Group on Mon., April 13, 4:30 to 5:30 pm, in Clubhouse Oakmont Room #1. The History Group meets the second Monday of each month, 4:30 to 5:30 pm. HISTORY GROUP Martin Luther in his study
