Sunshine Club's Member of the Month Meet Mary Jane and Dave James. is extraordinary couple are the backbone of the recycling eorts for the Sunshine Club. Residents since 2016, Mary Jane joined the Sunshine Club seven years ago. In that time, she has become a huge asset in organizing the recycling teams and delivering owers or fruit trays to those that are sick or grieving. Dave came onboard a few years later and plays a crucial role. Once everything is sorted and bagged here at Solera, Dave loads it into his truck and is o to the recycling center where he dumps it into metal cages to be converted into cash! e Sunshine Club thanks them for all their eorts and encourages you to do the same. What does the Sunshine Club do with the recycling money? ese funds allow us to send cards to residents that are ill, have lost a loved one, or simply need an encouraging word. In addition, any resident who has been hospitalized overnight or lost a loved one that lives here in Solera, will receive owers or a fruit tray. All of this depends completely on you notifying us that someone has a need. You can do this by contacting one of our members or lling out a yellow information slip now located on the wall in the Mail Room and dropping it in the yellow box. ese forms are also available in the gym and in the front oce. If you are interested in joining us, we meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 1 pm in the Arts & Cras Room. Chronic illnesses, hospitalization, and/ or death can hit people hard. If you have a friend or neighbor here in Solera who needs a spark of sunshine, let members of the Sunshine Club know. For your convenience, the yellow Sunshine Box is located on the table in the Mail Room where you can drop off the information for a resident or residents who are sick or have experienced a death in the family. Sometimes just a card or telephone call will brighten someone's day immensely.
