54 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2026 This is the perspective of the artist of the month, Christine Vergara. "I've been part of the Mixed Media Art Class for years and, occasionally, just to keep things fresh, I like to do a series of studies of a single image in dierent media. is series is based on a photograph I took on a recent trip to London. e dierent media are oil paints, watercolor pencils of dierent soness, and white charcoal pencils of varying hardness used on black paper. I learn something new from this approach. is time, I especially liked the way the medium helped me to focus on a dierent element in each piece. ey were the positive and negative spaces, sharp lines vs so edges, contrasts of lights and darks, shadows, and color saturation. I ended up with four variations that captured a happy family memory. e class is a wonderful group of people all exploring their creativity and love of art in their own way and at their own pace. We always welcome new members." Classes are held on Mondays and Fridays from 10 am to 12 noon in the Arts & Crafts Room. There is a nominal $5 fee per person per session. This is a perfect opportunity to relax, socialize, and explore your creativity in a friendly and inspiring environment. Throughout the season, we'll be working on a mix of cheerful and decorative projects inspired by blooming flowers, bright colors, and sunny days. Some of our planned crafts include: • Floral wreaths and centerpieces • Painted flower pots and garden décor • Spring holiday-themed crafts • Seashell and beach-inspired creations • DIY summer signs and home accents Whether you're a beginner or an experienced crafter, there's something for everyone. All supplies will be provided (or a simple list will be shared ahead of time), and guidance will be available every step of the way.
