Our April Cars & Coffee meeting was fantastic. We had great weather and the winds were mild. We had more than 20 great- looking cars and trucks show up. Two new cars showed up: Allen Harvin drove up in style with his 2008 continental blue convertible Bentley, powered by a 12 cylinder engine. Gilbert Morales showed up in his classic Candy Apple 1940 two- door Ford Deluxe powered by a Chevy 350 Corvette engine. Gilbert has owned his car for one day. Several of us attended a Cars & Coffee event sponsored by Inland Empire Corvettes last month — it was really cool. On Saturday, May 2, 9 to 11 am, in The Lodge parking lot, Cars & Coffee will hold a Ladies Day Cars And Coffee. All ladies who drive their cars, any make, model, and year, will receive a rose. There will be live music performed by The Last Train Out. Cake, coffee, and other munchies and refreshments will be provided. If you have any questions regarding this event, please contact my wife Pam Morales at (714) 345-5224. On Saturday, May 16, the Veterans Club is sponsoring an Armed Forces Day parade. Any car, any year is invited. If you wish to participate, please contact me or Len Tavernetti. The parade will begin at 10 am by the windmill at Four Seasons Circle. Just show up and get in line — no need to sign up. For more information please contact Frank Morales at (951) 203- 4578 or fmoralesjrinc@aol.com or Rick Morales at (951) 255-4710 or onemth53@yahoo.com. ~ Frank Morales Cars & Coffee TOPS FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2026 41 We are in the fifth week of our 13- week contest. Each week we choose a different challenge, and if we are successful, we can move our car along a pre-determined route on our map of the United States. We began in Los Angeles, went north up to Seattle and down to Albuquerque. We each have a map to keep track of progress. The winners get a free car wash ticket. Two weeks ago, our TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) regional advocate spoke about her journey, and reminded us to reward losses, celebrate healthy choices, promote movement at least three times each week, and replace shame with support. She explained a few of the national organizations' new ideas such as celebrating non- scale victories like being able to reduce medications, or dropping a clothing size. Another new TOPS idea is that the members don't have to step on the scale at each meeting. If members prefer not to weigh, they will still be able to attend a meeting where they will see friends and gain the support needed. A further discussion of the need for protein was an eye-opener for many when we discovered how much we need each day. Our recent group discussion centered on challenges we had in the previous week and what we did to deal with them. Then we spent time thinking about the week to come and got suggestions on how to overcome upcoming challenges. You may find that a group like TOPS can help you as well. We meet on Tuesday at 8:30 am in the Ballroom.
