| OHCC LIVING | MAY 2026 |25 We welcomed 29 new members to our spring luncheon on April 9, in Abravanel Hall. Members enjoyed good food, saw good friends, shared some beautiful projects, and learned about some unusual sewing and cra tools with a fun game. Our guest speaker was Berenicé Dorantes, Director of Community Outreach from Camp Pendleton. We provide lots of volunteer support for Camp Pendleton and it was wonderful to hear how our involvement impacts military families. We donated yarn and knitting tools to an OHCC group going to Africa soon. ey hope to provide materials and skills to African women that help them provide income for themselves and their families. If you have donations of fabric, yarn, tools, equipment, etc., please contact our new donations coordinator, Karen Chavez, at (760) 310-4940, to arrange for collection. Also, if you'd like to help Karen with processing club donations, please contact her. Members are especially appreciative for materials used in making items for organizations we regularly support. Our club generously gives lots of time and talent to provide needed items and anything that helps us provide more is a wonderful gi! So, check out your stash, clean out your closets, and help us make a dierence. Our regular monthly meetings are on the rst ursday of the month at 9:30 am in the Mykonos Room. However, May's meeting will be May 7, in the Lamia Room. Come early and enjoy refreshments and social time. Remember to sign up for classes and events on the clipboards in the Sewing Room. If you are dropping o dues ($7) at the front desk, please remember to ll out a membership form to make sure your information is correct. If you've already paid your annual dues, but have changes to your info, you can submit a form too. Enjoy spring and happy sewing and craing! Submitted by Diana Homan Sewing Etc. Club Kundalini teacher Donnalee Singer is ready for class It's almost time for the kids' summer vacation. If you are expecting company, Grandma's Closet stands ready to help make your little ones' visits a bit simpler by loaning out items they might need. If you have kiddies visiting, make reservations now so you don't get caught short. Some items are very popular! We maintain a list of individuals who have items available for loan, including their contact information and the specic items they wish to share. When someone inquires about borrowing, we will provide this list so that the donor and recipient can arrange the details. ese loans are intended for our residents' visitors. Borrowed items (excluding car seats, strollers and car booster seats) are not to be taken out of the village or used by anyone other than the borrower. If you have items to loan out such as strollers, car seats, carriers, Pack'n'Plays, high chairs, books, toys, games, or puzzles, please email Naomi at NaomiBKatz@iCloud. com and/or Rich at redcisc@gmail.com. Be sure to include the items, their age- appropriateness, and your name, address, phone number, and email address for inclusion on the list. Should you nd yourself in need of an item or two, please reach out to Rich or Naomi and we will send you the list. Additionally, if your visiting grandchildren have le behind items you won't need for a while, consider oering them for loan at Grandma's Closet. If you have clothing or furniture for babies or children that you can't store or use, please let us know.
