Aer graduating in 1965, Chihuly enrolled in the rst glass program in the country, at the University of Wisconsin. He continued his studies at the Rhode Island School of Design where he later established the glass program and taught for more than a decade. In 1968, aer receiving a Fulbright Fellowship, he went to work at the Venini glass factory in Venice. ere he observed the team approach to blowing glass, which is critical to the way he works today. In 1971, Chihuly co-founded Pilchuck Glass School in Washington State. His work is included in more than 200 museum collections worldwide. He has been the recipient of many awards, including two fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts and 12 honorary doctorates. Written by Susan Pick We warmly welcome you to the recently installed new exhibit in the Art Studio. As always, we are thrilled to feature the beautiful work of our very talented and artistic neighbors for your viewing pleasure. is community has never lacked creative souls, and each new exhibit serves as a wonderful reminder of the remarkable gis that surround us. eir creations will be on view for the next two months, giving you ample opportunity to visit and revisit their works, perhaps each time bringing a fresh perspective. Great works have a way of revealing something new with every view. is month, we are especially excited to spotlight Bruce Taylor's magnicent painting of dynamic, splashing waves, prominently displayed at the front desk where it is sure to capture your attention the moment you walk by the area. His work beautifully captures the raw energy and movement of the ocean with remarkable skill and vibrancy. We also want to extend our deepest appreciation to all the artists who so generously share their work with our community. For the three months each piece is on display, these artists graciously part with something deeply personal — and perhaps even deprive their own families of a cherished piece. We are grateful for that generous spirit. anks, also, to Mike ornton for his help with the lighting and the installation of the art. If you are a painter and would like to show your talent to your neighbors here in OHCC, please contact Judy Harris.
