Saving Water
Southern California has always been arid since we are
basically in the desert and receive only about six inches of rain
yearly. Although the city water has become expensive, "I can
aord it" is not the answer. Cooperative conservation needs to
be practiced so that we can all have enough water for our basic
needs. Here are a few hints to save our water:
• Dishwashers use less water than washing by hand.
• Watering your plants early in the morning prevents sun
burn and evaporation.
• While you wait for shower water to run hot, save it in a
bucket for your plants.
In our community, shared (Master) areas are watered between
10 pm and 4 am to minimize water evaporation. If you happen
to be out and about at that hour and notice that a sprinkler is
malfunctioning or pouring water on a driveway or the street,
please call the Community Patrol at (760) 758-7111. By Peggy
