A big thanks to Susan and Wayne Vogel for hosting this event and to Laura and Mike Urban for volunteering to host the return of Daring Greatly this coming December. What wonderful membership we have. Our next event will be on Sat., June 13, at the Lanai with a BBQ /Potluck hosted by Carol Engstrom and the Barcelona chapter of the Music Lover's Club. ere will be a short meeting to proceed with the festivities. is is a lovely opportunity for our club to enjoy the Lanai. Details will be forthcoming in your membership email and a poster in the Clubhouse. Our club membership has exploded and for that reason it is just no longer feasible to wish individuals a happy birthday in our article. But just know each and every one of you has done a fabulous job of showing up and creating a really dynamic club. And for that, we are all so grateful. A very happy Mother's Day to one and all and so looking forward to getting together in June. A big shout out to our amazing Board for keeping things rolling forward. So many fun things are on our horizon, and the details and dates will be shared via your membership email. Written by Janet Mrvos Daring Greatly Band and Music Lover Club event Newbies is the ocial welcoming group for residents of Ocean Hills Country Club. We host quarterly potlucks where both new and longtime residents can meet, connect, and socialize. Our March potluck in Abravanel Hall was a wonderful success, with 73 attendees, including 29 Newbies. We are especially grateful to Sue Silva, your OHCC Resident Realtor, whose generous sponsorship helped defray event expenses. A team of dedicated Newbies volunteers greeted guests at check-in and arranged a beautiful potluck table. Emcee Rosemary Bray welcomed everyone and encouraged guests to spend a few minutes chatting before enjoying the delicious potluck dishes. During the program, Newbies introduced themselves and shared a few fun facts. We learned that Katie McGeough completed a 51-day cross-country bicycle trip in 2005 with her husband, Mike (Mongo), averaging an impressive 85 miles per day. Je and Janet Gindin ride with a tandem bicycle club every Sunday and invite everyone to join them. David and Rebecca Nichols shared that their son has been an actor on e Young and the Restless for 30 years, and Choi Tse owned a business in San Francisco but is now into giant hula hoops! We recognized our newest resident, Jenna Schulman, who spent the rst night in her new home on March 1, and is still in the process of moving in. Jenna's parents also attended the event, and her father Paul Schulman delighted the crowd with his remarkable singing voice. A second "newest resident" prize went to Doctor Marilyn Ruman, a practicing psychologist, who moved in on March 2. Sue and Selwyn Sher were recognized for traveling the farthest distance to join our community, having recently traveled from the United Kingdom. It was a wonderful aernoon getting to know our newest neighbors. Welcome to OHCC! Lynn Bible and Rosemary Bray have been coordinating Newbies for more than three years and plan to step down following the December 2026 event. We are currently looking for two volunteers to take over planning and hosting future Newbies gatherings. If you are interested, please contact us at the email address below. e next Newbies potluck will be held on Sat., June 27, from 1 to 3 pm on the OHCC Lanai. More details will be shared in advance.
