These pillars work together to support physical strength, brain function, emotional balance, and overall vitality, helping to mitigate age-related declines. The Five Pillars include: 1. Nutrition: Focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats (like the Mediterranean diet), while staying well-hydrated. Adequate protein is crucial for muscle mass. 2. Physical Activity: Regular exercise, from brisk walking to more intense workouts, maintains mobility, strength, and cardiovascular health. 3. Sleep: Aim for seven to eight hours of quality sleep nightly to support optimal body and brain function, as sleep deprivation negatively impacts both. 4. Mental & Cognitive Engagement: Keep your mind sharp through learning, puzzles, reading, and/or trying new activities or hobbies — these can help prevent cognitive decline. 5. Social Connection & Purpose: Maintain strong relationships and find meaningful activities or a sense of purpose to combat isolation and promote emotional well-being. Focus on giving and being grateful instead of being focused on just yourself. You don't have to master all pillars at once; small, consistent efforts in each area build a foundation for a longer, healthier, and more fulfilling life. ~ Sources: AARP, Google AI Assistant Five Pillars of Healthy Aging Martin and Josie Dusold Dottie Cochran and Denise Bates
