Heather and I moved to Four Seasons Hemet in late 2004, and since then we have witnessed many changes and challenges that have touched us all. Over the years, we've added more than two decades of life experience, built countless meaningful friendships, and, sadly, said goodbye to far too many friends as life has moved forward. We have endured Covid and all that came with it, adapted to the ever rising cost of living, and watched politics become increasingly divisive. Yet through it all, some things have remained constant — and in some cases have grown even stronger — one of those being the spirit of volunteerism. The willingness to step forward and give time, talent, and experience has been part of our community since the very beginning. Volunteerism not only strengthens our community, but it also enriches our individual lives by creating purpose, keeping us active and engaged, building friendships, and allowing us to share skills while learning from others. A wonderful example is the Flag Angels, led by Mike and Donna McLaughlin, whose dedication to placing American f lags throughout the community — rain or shine — always lifts my spirits. Another shining example is the Team Sunshine Club, which has long supported neighbors during times of loss, assisted with events like f lu shot clinics, coordinated meal deliveries during Covid, and continues to serve wherever needed. In addition, our community has 10 committees and 32 clubs working to bring neighbors together, each benefiting from the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our residents. For anyone inspired to contribute, I encourage you to step forward, visit the Lodge to see where help is needed, or attend a meeting that interests you.
