18 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2026 | Summer is here and with it comes the heat. For quilters this means only one thing… more time spent inside, with air conditioning, passing the time creatively sewing! As these first two photos illustrate, Sharon Williams' quilt is a work in progress and definitely a labor of love. Love for the craft itself began at a very early age. Learning to sew as a child, I was instantly hooked. Being able to transform a single piece of fabric into something to wear was like magic. Spending endless hours at our family's dining room table, I would sew through play times that could have been spent with friends, and certainly into the wee hours of nightfall. Permitted to stay up later as each year passed, I meticulously honed my craft. Like a budding new artist there was no limit to my sense of creativity, exploration and design techniques. Now, 60 years later, those same passions ignite new levels of creativity as I continue on my journey of learning to quilt. Like piecing together fabric with various colors of thread, I instantly noticed a significant change in my environment. One of life's seasonal changes I could not have anticipated, and one I welcomed with open arms. Sewing with friends. Joining me in support, inspiration and camaraderie demonstrates what can happen when we dare to dream ~ together. What began as a Seasons Quilters group project last year is now rounding its final turn to the finish line. Farmhouse Lane Quilt from Lori Holt's Farm Girl Vintage will be the first quilt I finish, and without the encouragement and support of my fellow Quilties would never have happened. Yes, sewing with friends is better. The third photo, appropriately named for the 'season' is Cleta Colston's Star Flower. Introducing me to quilting six years ago, Cleta's consistent encouragement continues to empower me in the magic of inspiration. Seasons Quilters meets every Thursday in the Arts & Crafts Room from 10 am to 4 pm breaking for lunch at the Bistro at 12:30 pm. In June we meet on the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th.
