With deep gratitude, we share that the required signatures for the Sunset Crossroads referendum petition have been gathered and officially submitted to the city. This moment belongs to every neighbor, volunteer, and supporter who gave their time, energy, and voice to protect what matters most. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the donors who have already contributed; your generosity has helped make this effort possible. This effort has always been rooted in protecting the health, character, and future of our community. We are now in the verification phase. The city will review the signatures in the coming weeks and determine the next step: either rescind their approval of the Sunset Crossroads project, stopping it entirely, or place the decision on the ballot for voters. If the approval is rescinded, the proposed mega-warehouses project ends here. If it moves to the ballot, our work continues. It's important that our community understands what is truly being proposed. The Sunset Crossroads project centers on mega- warehouses with minimal commercial benefit, bound by a 30- year development agreement, and includes elements that are not guaranteed. The impacts would be felt across Banning—from increased truck traffic (estimated at 1,700 trips per day, around the clock) to rising concerns about air, light, and noise pollution, as well as effects on public health, property values, and overall quality of life. At the same time, developers have already begun campaigning, often without sharing the full picture. This makes our role even more essential. Education, awareness, and honest conversations will shape what comes next. Talk with your neighbors, share accurate information, and stay connected for updates. If the measure advances to the ballot, we will need continued community involvement and nancial support to ensure accurate information reaches every resident. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly supports outreach, education, and the preservation of our community's future. We've taken a powerful first step, together.
