| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2026 | 61 Billiards Well, another 8-Ball season is in the books! Spring League ended with some fierce competition between the two Semi-Finalist teams, Over the Hill Gang and Crackin' Racks. When the dust settled after all the matches, Over the Hill Gang came out victorious. Charlie Maggs was the captain, and his teammates included Tony Samero, Dan Cosner, Bob Schive, Marty Sherman, and Leon Fikse. The Finalist Team, Crackin' Racks, was captained by Duane Vieira and included teammates Robert Bierend, Clay Waring, Herb Schwartz, Rick Brua, Tony Browne, Lonny Markyna, and Dean Perrine. All winning players took home certificates and cash prizes for their winning efforts. A special acknowledgment goes to Marty Sherman. Marty has been playing 8-Ball League for 20 years and this will be his first year on a championship team and having his name immortalized on the wall of winners in the Billiards Room. The spring season was capped off with a Beach Party in the South Clubhouse. Comedian Brian Kiley, performed for the group and food included a zesty taco bar along with fresh strawberries and ice cream cone cupcakes. The best part of the party was when 60 beach balls dropped from the ceiling to, of course, the Beach Boys song, Fun, Fun, Fun, while the party goers indulged in some crazy mayhem. Summer will include 8- and 9-Ball tournaments and details will be posted in the Billiards Room. The 8-Ball Group will start their fall/winter season in August; new players are welcome. If you want to brush up and/ or showcase your billiards skills, please join us Monday through Saturday at noon in the Billiards Room for social play. We'd like to welcome our "summer" group back now that we have returned to the outdoor pool. We meet Monday through Friday from 4 to 5:30 pm to workout, tone our bodies, and enjoy each other's company. So put on your sunscreen, bring a hat, and come join us.
