18 | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2026 | Welcome to Summer at OHCC June marks the official start of summer, bringing longer days, warmer weather, and more opportunities to enjoy everything our community has to offer. With the arrival of the season, our Summer Pool is once again a central hub for relaxation, socializing, and staying active. This month's article is focused on making sure we are all ready to enjoy the pool together throughout the summer. The Summer Pool schedule runs from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend, with weekday hours from 11 am – 2 and extended hours on weekends and holidays from 11 am – 3 pm. As we welcome residents and their guests, please keep the following guidelines in mind to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all: • All visitors must be accompanied by a resident • Wristbands are required for all guests and children ages five (5) and over • Children under five are not permitted in the pool area • The spa is reserved for those fourteen (14) and older • Please remember to swim at your own risk and report any concerns to Securitas at (760) 758-7111 Guest wristbands are now available at the Recreation Front Desk. Please stop by in advance to pick yours up and help keep the check-in process running smoothly. We encourage you to think ahead about how many wristbands you will need this summer. Mint green 2026 wristbands are designated for youth, and yellow 2026 wristbands are for adults. These wristbands are reusable and can be used for different guests throughout the summer. For example, if you expect a total of 10 guests over the course of the season but only four at one time, you only need four wristbands. As always, residents are helping us maintain a respectful and well-managed environment, so please ensure your guests are wearing their wristbands at all times. This helps avoid unnecessary questions or concerns and allows everyone to focus on enjoying the summer. Beyond the pool, summer continues to offer many opportunities to connect and enjoy community life. Our popular food pop-ups, Taco Tuesday, and Burgers & Beer events are in full swing, along with weekly favorites like The Sweet Spot and Tai Chi in the Lanai. Be sure to check the monthly Recreation Calendar for a full list of events, activities, programs, and classes. We're also excited to share that the Billiards Room resurfacing project is now complete. This upgrade enhances playability and refreshes the space for both casual players and regular enthusiasts. Please help us keep the new surfaces in great condition by keeping beverages off the tables. We've also had some great moments of community fun recently. Keystone staff had the chance to jump into the pool and challenge our resident Water Volleyball group — what a fun afternoon of friendly competition in the water! It's always great to see staff and residents connecting in such an engaging way. Out on the field, the Wiff le Ball League kicked off its season in May with record sign-ups and strong participation. It's shaping up to be a fantastic season full of energy, camaraderie, and fun. We are also looking ahead to our annual 4th of July Celebration, which promises to be a full day of community fun and engagement. The day will kick off with a Golf Cart Parade at 10 am, with residents meeting at the overf low parking area. Participation sign-ups are available at the Clubhouse reception, and we anticipate a strong turnout as this continues to be a favorite community tradition. Following the parade, residents can enjoy our 4th of July Celebration on the Lanai beginning at 12:30 pm. The event will feature music, food, and a festive atmosphere for all to enjoy. The menu includes grilled hamburgers (with vegan options available), potato salad, baked beans, green salad, watermelon, and dessert. We are especially grateful to the Village Veterans Club for volunteering their time to manage the grill and support this event. This event continues to be a highlight of the summer season and a great opportunity to bring residents together in celebration. And as we celebrate the season, we'd like to wish all of our dads, grandfathers, and father figures in the community a very happy Father's Day. We hope you take some time to relax, enjoy the pool, and spend time with family and friends. As always, the Recreation Department remains fully staffed and committed to providing quality programs, services, and amenities for our residents.
