The next Guys and Dolls is June 20. G & D have begun to pay a place for the low Gross team of the day to recognize lowest round on the day. Touring Amateurs is scheduled for June 16, at the Oceanside golf course details coming soon. We are looking for volunteers to run TA next season. If you love playing golf outside in these limited number of tournaments then see Mike Guillory and help the golf club out otherwise it may go away. A special thank you to John Drace who donated 25 dozen new Callaway range balls to our practice area and to Greg Coffey for sorting out all the abandoned mix match balls. How do I know what's happening if I'm not active in the golf club and want to play? There is a monthly bulletin in the f lyer area near the Clubhouse front desk as well as one at the golf CASA each month. It lists everyday events so you can plan your time outside of structured tournaments. On March 27, Fling Golf held a Fling & Swing Flingfest where f lingers and traditional golfers teamed to play in a scramble tournament. There were 16 teams who competed for prize money. Two tied for first place – Annette Frimtzis and Sandy Ackerman, and Don Quigley and Mongo McGeough – with a nine-hole score of 18 (after subtracting Reggies and average team handicaps). On April 13, with the OHCC course closed for spring maintenance, a group of Touring Flingers played 18 holes at the Exec at Lakehouse 18-hole course in San Marcos. For several of the ladies, this was their first time playing FlingGolf at an offsite course. Thanks to Don Quigley for this part of the article for the golf club. Written by Teresa Deutman The Table Tennis Club just had a wonderful 2026 Spring Taco Party Celebration. Abravanel Hall was filled with many happy folks listening to music, sharing delicious food, wine/beer, soft drinks, and OF COURSE, we had four table tennis tables set up. Almost everyone joined in the fun playing singles and doubles. The Table Tennis (aka Ping Pong) Club at OHCC is open for play almost every day of the week. On weekdays the default location for play is Mykonos Room, and for weekends it is sometimes Abravanel Hall. Tables are typically set up for play on Mondays from 11 am to 2:30 pm, Tuesdays 6:30 to 8:30 am and all other days from 1 to 8 pm. Please check the updated weekly schedules that are emailed to members every month. The schedule for the month is also posted on the TT Club bulletin board the Mykonos room, and on the activity's marquee screen in the Clubhouse. Occasionally, there are schedule changes, based on room availability. Table tennis is always a fun and cool way to spend time - Paul Newman and Robert Redford played ping pong in Mexico while filming Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, 1968. The OHCC Table Tennis Club offers members the opportunity to take professional lessons to learn proper form and positioning to reduce the chances of falling or injury and improve overall ability. A buddy system is available for players to book times to practice with more experienced players to improve their playing ability. Paid for individual and group lessons with professional coaches can be booked in 30-minute slots from 3:30 to 5:30 pm on most Sundays. Sign-up sheets for Practice Buddies, and for lessons from Pro coaches are on the bulletin board in the Mykonos Room. Our schedule is also included in the OHCC weekly activity printout at the Clubhouse Front Desk and on the OHCC Website Recreation Calendar.
