28 | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2026 | Woodchucks This month we are acknowledging our Woodchuck Vice President, Larry See. Larry's woodworking skills are perfect examples of taking craftsmanship to the next level. These photos of his work building ukuleles show off the detailed inlays, combined with rare hardwood to create works of art. He is a true luthier! He honed his skills through the Woodworking Program at Palomar College, one of the best in the country. As our Club Vice President, Larry helps keep our "burrow" organized and the tools running. We all owe him a big "thank you!" Written by Tom Murphy The Photo Club's June meeting (Lamia Room, June 18, 1 pm) will give us an opportunity to review the work we did on June 6, taking photos of the gardens in the annual OHCC Garden Tour. Each member should send in five to 10 of their favorites to the club so we can have a slide show during our June meeting. Send them in as soon as you can! At right are some photos from last year. The club will also be appointing a committee to handle nominations for 2026 officers. Upcoming in July we will have an opportunity to show off our best work in the Art Studio. This exhibit will be up for three months, starting Sat., July 18. Our goal is a display of photographic art by Photography Club members which the member would be proud to display on the walls of her/his home. Volunteers from the Art Studio team will select and locate the photos in the Art Studio. They will remain on display for about three months. Unlike prior years, there is a theme. Considering this year is the USA's 250th anniversary, we are asking for photos depicting something of interest in the USA. The subject matter can be landscapes, nature, cityscapes, abstracts, interesting portraits, or any other subject but recognizably American. We prefer images that have not been shown in the Clubhouse previously. Any image must be suitable for family viewing. We'll accept three photos per member. The Photo Club customarily does not meet in July and August, since many are busy with vacation and family, but we plan to offer a couple of workshops on topics of interest. Stay tuned.
