30 | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2026 | Music Lovers The Music Lovers Club and a new umbrella group, The Happy Hour Concerts special interest group, hosted a well-attended happy hour on April 27, featuring a performance by local musician Chris Torres and the event was organized by Susan Brainin-Martin. The Music Lovers Club held an outstanding Alex Lucero Band concert on May 2, along with beautiful gift-boxed lemon squares from The Crimson Cake in Oceanside. The evening featured an opening performance by members Mike and Debbie Cea, and later Mike joined Alex Lucero on stage performing a Frank Sinatra number, Fly Me to the Moon. The Alex Lucero Band is a Soul/Americana touring act based out of Santa Cruz, CA. Fronted by powerhouse vocalist and multi- instrumentalist Alex Lucero, the band blends rich musicianship with a dynamic stage presence, anchored by Alex and his wife Justina, who lead the band center stage with undeniable chemistry. Their sound has captivated audiences worldwide, earning them over 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and continuous recognition in the streaming era of music. From all the attendees' comments, they were loved. The next event is an all-membership meeting and BBQ/potluck on June 13, hosted by Carol Engstrom and the Barcelona chapter. The gathering will take place on the Lanai, where members will vote on new by-laws, and beautiful weather is expected. The revised by-laws will be emailed to members in advance along with all the events' details. I will be working on the poster this week. Look for it in the clubhouse soon.
