| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2026 | 29 A bit of ref lection and gratitude, the Spring Luncheon was a joyful experience. The Neil Diamond Tribute artist was amazing as promised. A most appreciative thank you to all those who supported the Garden Club's special event: those who organized, set up, contributed raff le baskets, and last but not least, to all those who attended. Fireworks and very special celebrations are happening the first week of July. Our country is going to celebrate our 250th Anniversary! Just to put this in perspective, we're just a baby as far as countries go. Those of us living in Sun Lakes have lived somewhere between one-fifth to more than one-third of the United States of America's existence. (I know, a scary thought). While the U.S. has certainly gone through, and is currently going through, some tragic growing pains, we are a remarkably wonderful country with remarkably wonderful, if imperfect, people. Given all that, the Garden Club is proud to participate in the Sun Lakes Golf Cart Parade celebrating 250 years of freedom on Sat., July 4. Thank you Linda Flannerly for volunteering to organize the cart decoration and parade participation. The Garden Club wishes all of the Sun Lakes community, and indeed, the USA, a wonderful and prosperous 251st year! This month's meeting (the second Wed., July 8, from 10 am to 12 noon) we will welcome back Liz Mantch to show us more about growing, or more accurately not growing, a Bonsai garden. Guests are always welcome to attend one of our meetings. President Barbara Maslowski at (951) 845-9741 welcomes your questions. If you have membership questions, please call one of our membership Co-Chairs: Sherry Case at (951) 533-3584 or Maureen Keeney at (840) 228-0862. Pat Pennington, at (951) 314-9229, loves to talk about vegetable gardening and is happy to answer vegetable gardening questions. If you have a fruit tree(s) in need of picking, contact Joy Bailey at (951) 845-5540. The produce will go to local charities. Lastly, our Sunshine person, Sandi Shelling-Fetterman at (530) 575-2523 accepts texts with information about Garden Club members who might appreciate a card expressing our support.
