42 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2026 | WOW. For our May meeting, we had an overwhelming turnout of more than 65 members and guests that attended our monthly meeting. The room was packed and we had to set up more tables and chairs! Also at the meeting we had 12 new Veterans sign up to become members of the Veterans Club. We now have over 150 registered members. We continue to grow to support our Sun Lakes Veterans. The May special guest speakers were Andrea Teas and Tenora Williams, both LCSW Veteran Directed Care Coordinators, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (photo inset). They provided updates and processes on Veteran Geriatric services available through the VA. They also handed out a lot of giveaways, gifts and documentation to the members. Also members of the Sun Lakes Follies attended the Veterans Club meeting in May and donated a $1,000 check to Faith in Action in support of the homeless veterans' housing they are building in Banning. Ed Luna, USAF Club President reviewed the positive feedback and success of the Veterans presentation of the Colors for the Chorale of Sun Lakes. And our club's social is Sun., July 12 from 3 to 7 pm in the North Clubhouse with Tacos and Beer. Just $15 each! Larry Middlesworth, USA, reviewed our clubs 'Honoring Our Nation's Flag' Supported Disposal Project. More than 700 old American Flags have been donated by Sun Lakes residents for proper disposal. The club also distributed a Memorial Day Tribute Presentation and communication Video to all residents on the true meaning of Memorial Day and recognition of those that "All gave some, some gave all." Great job, Larry, for putting this together. The Veterans club participated at the Sun Lakes Charity Week's Monster Scramble in June. We had Hole 6 with a challenging and fun event with a military veterans theme. We are also working with the Sun Lakes Recreation Department and Club in participation in the July 4th Parade. Tim Hanratty, USMC, gave a very moving and emotional speech about sharing his Military Experience. Thank you Tim.
