| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2026 | 61 Billiards Sun Lakes Billiards players, along with two players from Four Seasons, won first place in the APA (American Pool Association) in the desert cities APA spring season. Team, Crackin' Racks, consist of eight players who play every Tuesday night at Boston's restaurant and sports bar in Beaumont. They play against 12 other teams during the season with play beginning at 7 pm and often going until midnight before all five matches are completed. Players on the team have various ratings, which allows captains to post players by skill level against opponents, using strategy to make the matches as challenging as possible. Crackin' Racks is captained by Duane Vieira, from Sun Lakes, along with Sun Lakers John Mursa, Dan, Singleton, Thomas Leamy, Pat Carter, and Michelle Carter. Leta Ramirez and Daniel Frymire are both from Four Seasons. Summer season has already begun for the team, yet they continue to practice for their upcoming playoffs to win a spot at the 2026 8-Ball World Pool championships in Las Vegas in August. In the Sun Lakes Billiards Room, the Summer Series Billiards clinics featuring pro player, Braxton Powers, teaching techniques and fundamentals are underway. There was also a scotch doubles eight ball tournament in late June and winners will be posted next month. WWW (Water Weights Workout) "June gloom" has turned into the beautiful month of July! Our group has grown during June, now that we are outside at the main clubhouse pool. We welcome everyone to get moving in the pool to build stamina, muscle, strength and to make new friends! Volunteers lead the group Monday through Friday from 4 pm to 5:30 pm. Hope to see you soon!
