Our June entertainment was Radio Flyers. They are a favorite of the 80s Club and they proved again why that is so. They sang so many of our favorites and took us back to the 60s. They started with Wake Up Little Suzie, What's Your Name, Groovin', Daddy's Home, Poison Ivy. By popular request, they continued to sing as people went through the line to get their food and continued with Love Potion #9, My Girl, We Belong Together and Da Doo Run Run. Thank you Paul, Gina and Ron - you are some kind of wonderful! The 80s Club is for residents near or over 80 years of age along with their spouses, no matter their age. Remember, we also have some members still in their 70s and we like that, too! We also have many men in attendance which seems to surprise some. Our events are always on the first Saturday of the month and begin at 3 pm. We start with a brief meeting and announcements, then entertainment with the meals beginning by 3:45 pm. Come once for the price of the meal ($20) to see if you'd like to join and then pay dues ($10) for your second visit. Though a reservation is always required. No action is required for July but don't forget to get your checks to Donna Harrington at 5393 Riviera for our Aug. 1 event by the deadline of July 26. There is a box on Donna's front porch labeled 80's Club for your checks. No reservations will be accepted after the deadline. If you are mailing in your check, we must have it in by the deadline date and make sure your phone number is on the check. Also, please give us the name of any guests you are paying for and bringing. People begin arriving by 2:30 pm at the South Clubhouse to get checked in and get their seats, and the program starts at 3pm. Meals are $20 per person and dues of $10 per person for the calendar year.
