| LIFE IN SOLERA | JULY 2026 | 7 Here we are one month into our new fiscal year. 2025 – 2026 was actually a good year for us financially. We ended our Operating account with a new income of $174,860. We spent $901,951 from Reserves, a little more than half went toward the current street project, and converting the old drip system to the new one was $134,083. We also spent $39,108 from Capital Improvement. This is the second year in a row that we have had a positive balance for our net income. Moving forward we will have to prepare for the cost of our street project. The decision to complete areas 1, 2A, and 2B concurrently was due to the lower bids received, based on a lower cost of materials. We will evaluate the economy each year going forward to determine whether we should complete another phase next spring, 2027, or wait until spring 2028. The Street Committee and the Finance Committee are working closely with each other to ensure we make the right decision for our community. When individuals, groups, or clubs make a request for the staff to purchase something, they should ask, "Is this a want or need? Is something broken or just old? Is it about safety or would it just be nice to have? Is it something that you saw somewhere else and think it would be nice to have or is it something that would create savings in the future?" We are not suggesting that these individuals, groups, or clubs cannot request something they want, for whatever reason. It is the fiduciary duty of the Board to maintain the appearance and integrity of the assets of Solera OVG. We are also not saying we do not have the money for something that you just want. Fiscal responsibility is important and members have made it clear that any increase in assessments is needed and not just wanted. The finance committee is committed to ensure our financial health is maintained. The Board has the responsibility to approve the spending of funds that are made with their fiduciary duty to spend wisely. ~ Marcia Casem, Chairperson Finance Committee
