28 | LIFE IN SOLERA | JULY 2026 | e African American Culture Club (Planning Ahead) The African American Culture Club (AACC) Estate Planning Seminar brought together community members for an engaging and informative discussion led by Tonya Johnson, Esq. (a resident of Solera). Hosted by a panel of experts, the seminar was well-attended and offered valuable guidance on how to control assets in advance and make thoughtful plans for the future. Attendees left with practical insights, meaningful resources, and a deeper understanding of the importance of planning ahead. The seminar featured a diverse and knowledgeable panel that included a Trust Attorney, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Professional Fiduciary, and an expert experienced in home care, skilled nursing facilities, and long-term planning strategies. Together, they offered a well-rounded perspective on estate planning, highlighting the choices families can make to protect their loved ones and ensure peace of mind. Many attendees shared how much they enjoyed the panel and appreciated the clarity and care each expert brought to the conversation. Participants also received information on valuable resources: • Aging Life Care Association – Professional advisors who assist families with care management and legal planning. • CA Dept of Justice (Estate Planning) – Offers consumer guidance on wills, trusts, and how to avoid scams, along with information on California Courts Self-Help Guide: Probate. • Health Education Licensing Protection (H.E.L.P.) – A non-profit organization providing impartial advice on elder law, finances, and care management. • AARP Member Benefits – Offers a 20 percent discount on trust and estate planning services. • Dept of Consumer Affairs – Professional Fiduciary Bureau.
