GOLF CLUB
Our Golf Club continued the march into summer. On May 19 the
Solera Memorial Tournament was held at Oak Valley Golf Club with
14 teams playing a Scramble Event with a variety of things going on
including Closest-to-the-Pin contests, Best Poker Hand, and Raffles,
spearheaded by Arden Bates. There was something for everyone's
enjoyment. The winning foursome included Craig Martin, Bud
Thatcher, Dan Houdek, and Brian Plein (at right), but the next five
foursomes earned prize money also. Join the club and have some
fun with us!
Our Club Championship was played at Oak Valley Golf Club in June.
On the horizon is Solera's version of the President's Cup to be played
at Yucaipa Golf Club and Tukwet Golf Club over Sept. 15,22, and 29.
GOLF TIPS OF THE MONTH FOR LOW CHIPPING:
1) Take a narrow stance with hands ahead of the ball which is back
in your stance
2) Arms should be straight but supple and no wrist action
3) Weight is on the left side
4) Hit the ball first and keep club low through contact
