20 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2026 | Happy Birthday America! When contemplating the 250 year old age of our country I am awestruck by this land we call home, and the wide span of cultivating by farmers over its two and a half century lifespan. As a country, we are truly blessed in so many ways, but especially when becoming one with the land God created for us; to oversee it, to derive our food sources from it, and to enjoy basking in the rewards of our labor. In the next few months, the Late Bloomers Club will be pursuing the creation of a demonstration garden. This garden will be used by our Club to teach each other how to grow a variety of edibles and f lowers and explore different methods for pest control and proper soil nutrition. Teaching in a garden setting will be an optimal way of learning about growing. Our classes will be open to the entire community. To get more information, specific to your needs and passions, plan to attend our monthly meetings where we will be discussing themes, schedules, speakers, etc. June was a transitional month for us as I have decided to step down from my post of managing the Club to sitting on the bench as a spectator. Late Bloomers began in the spring of 2018, and to date, has grown to over 45 members. I have enjoyed every minute spent with our club and learned a lot over the years about the growing zone in which we live. Passing the baton to several very capable members, who will jointly share in responsibilities of managing the club, was seamless as new ideas are already well underway. If you're free on the second Monday of every month at 1 pm, stop by and learn what's growing. On June 4 a couple members visited Rose Haven Community Garden in Temecula. Always time well spent and free to the public; although donations are greatly appreciated! All Four Seasons residents are welcome to join us for meetings and excursions. Our July meeting will be on Mon., July 13 at 1 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room.
