| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2026 | 31 Horseshoes We have a few people interested in playing horseshoes. There is a horseshoe league that plays on Wednesday mornings at 8 am at different locations around Hemet. We practice Saturdays at 8 am. Evening pickleball playtime will begin at 5 pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings during cooler weather. The pickleball players get together every third Saturday of the month at 5 pm in The Lodge Activity Room and again every third Sunday of the month at 5 pm in The Lodge Activity Room to enjoy a potluck dinner and hone their competitive skills playing the fun board game, Sequence. Pickleball "It is never too late to reap benefits from exercise," an article from the AARP Bulletin says. "Even for those who have been couch potatoes for much of their lives, getting into an exercise routine after 50 can… add significantly to the quality of life." Walk Fit Class is a good way to start. We encourage classmates to start slow and work at their own level. The weather is going to be heating up over the next few months. It's hard to find a good time to exercise outdoors. WALK FIT meets in the cool environment of the Lodge Ballroom. The class consists of nine different Leslie Sansone "Walk Fit" DVDs. The easy-to-follow routines are set to music with varying tempos. The complete class is four miles, but you can come late or leave early to shorten your routine and work at your own level. A few of the DVDs incorporate resistance bands (always optional). Some class members add light hand weights for added strength training. Stop by and give us a try. New members are always welcome, men and women! Class schedule: Mon., Wed., Fri. 7:45 to 8:45 am in the Lodge Ballroom The class is free! For more information, contact Karen Tuvim at (316) 260-0847. Walk Fit Just e Facts: • Free strength-training class • Just 12 simple exercises • All fitness levels welcome • Fun, social atmosphere • Lodge Ballroom • Tuesdays and Thursdays • 8:30 am (come anytime between 8 and 8:30 am for coffee or conversation in the Bistro!) Build strength, support bone health, and meet neighbors — from athletes to couch potatoes, everyone fits right in! Questions? Contact Char Weekly at (951) 515-6127 or Cherrie Rau at (951) 282-8227. SASY is about more than exercise. We start gathering at a table in the Bistro about 8 am and go to the Ballroom as a group at 8:30 am. For those whose schedules allow, we follow exercise with breakfast in the Bistro, with all of us gone by 10 am. We stretch and lift for 30 minutes, using recorded exercises, either seated or standing behind chairs. For those wanting to use light weights, we have plenty to share, or bring your own. Start your day strong, have fun, and enjoy a casual way to get to know your neighbors. Strong Adults Stay Young (SASY)
