| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2026 | 29 Golf Cart Parade: By the time your July Herald has arrived, the 4th of July Parade will be a week or so away. So, mark your calendar and daily planners for July 4th at 8:30 am. This 4th is extra special! We are celebrating our country's 250th anniversary. And what better way to start the festivities than with a cart parade? The carts will start to line up at 8:30 am in the roundabout in front of the Lodge. A short f lag raising ceremony (the 250th f lag) will be held in front of the Lodge at 8:45 am. So, get in line a little early. Minimal decorations are okay (in fact most of the carts are minimally decorated but you will be amazed at some of the more elaborate displays. Our residents have some talents! Flag Angels: The Flag Angels have been busy people during the last few weeks. The Angels welcomed the summer in with f lags up for Memorial Day and then postings for Flag Day, Juneteenth, and the Fourth! That's 4,500 f lags posted in five weeks! For the past two years I have been highlighting a Flag Angel, one route per month. I am all caught up this month with the highlighting of the Barrs. Paul and Betty Barr are the newest couple to volunteer for f lag angel duties. Their route, Invitational # 4, covers the units north of hole number 11. The Barrs arrived in Four Seasons in 2010 from a very nice suburb of Chicago, Wilmette, Illinois. Paul was an executive with a plumbing and custom home company. Mary was in the real estate business in high end property in Orange County A real competitive environment! Like all Angels, the Barrs are active community members. As most of you know, Paul has just become a member of our Board of Directors. In addition to being a Board director, Paul has been a long-time member of the Finance Committee, and every Thursday he takes my money at the Texas Hold'em games. Mary has been active in the Library Committee CIP, and Team Sunshine where she welcomes new residents. So, next month I will highlight the substitutes. They fill a vital service by filling in at the last minute (in some cases the very day of f lag posting). We have lost several angels due to assorted reasons. I have used up a substantial portion of the substitutes. I will need some volunteers be substitute Angels. If anyone is interested in being a Flag Angel, please contact me (951) 973-4149), or email me at mikemcla43@aol.com. ~ Submitted by Mike McLaughlin Golf Cart Club
