If you heard laughter, friendly competition, and the occasional cry of
"Don't outbid me on that sound bar!" driing through the community
on Memorial Day, you weren't imagining things.
e Veterans & Friends Memorial Day Event welcomed more than
190 attendees who gathered to enjoy a delicious hot dog and bratwurst
lunch while supporting a great cause. What started as a meal, quickly
turned into a spirited battle of bidding during our Silent Auction,
featuring more than 80 fantastic items.
Auction treasures included bicycles, mini refrigerators, Sony sound
bars, wine-tasting certicates, and many other goodies that had
residents carefully guarding their bid sheets like top-secret military
documents. Some bidders checked their favorite items so oen that
tness trackers may have mistaken it for a workout.
Beyond the fun and friendly competition, the event was an important
fundraiser. e Veterans & Friends Club is proud that proceeds help
support local veterans and organizations that serve those who have
served our country. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who
attended, donated, volunteered, and bid generously.
Looking Ahead: America's 250th Birthday Celebration Mark your
calendars for July 4th as we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday! In
addition to the festivities, our popular Saloon will be open, oering a
variety of beverages for purchase. It is shaping up to be a star-spangled
good time, so come thirsty and ready to celebrate.
Veterans Meetings Summer Break Please note that the Veterans
General Meetings will be dark during July and August. Members can
enjoy a well-earned summer break before meetings resume in the fall.
ank you again for making Memorial Day such a memorable event.
Together, you're helping turn generosity into meaningful support for
veterans.
