40 | OHCC LIVING | JULY 2026 | Get ready for summer by starting a new bocce game late in the afternoon and stay to watch the sunset after your games to socialize and meet new players and friends. Lighting in the pergolas provides the perfect setting for watching the sunset with friends. The Bocce Club will be starting special Wednesday evening events to play and socialize. The next Sunday BBQ starts at 4 pm Sun., July 26, with open play followed by a BBQ starting around 5 pm. Check the f lyers in the lobby and the bulletin board at the Bocce Courts in late June for all the details. Last month we could not fit all the trophy winners in the article and are happy to give credits to our Fab5 winners now. To understand how difficult this is to earn, last year all the players combined scored 1,399 bocces and scoring a Fab5 happened just 63 times with only three of them being a Fab6. A Fab5 is awarded when a player or a team of two players scores five points in one frame (a bocce plus all four points). Fab5 Awards for Men: 14 – John Abdelaziz; 10 – Manny Morais; 4 – David Key; 3 – Isaak A, Joe Dudkowsk, Mike Simons; 2 - Leo Malone; 1 - Al Lipitz, Bill Crosby, Bob Hessinger, David Key, Dennis Lady, Larry Peterson, Richard Pede, Robert Hunter, Sheldon Clar, Tom Cattell, Tom Silva. Fab5 Awards for Women: 2 – Gloria Whitman, Yvonne Rivelli; 1 – Anna Grinshpun, Barbara DuDeck, Jackie Windes, Jean Meeks, Louise Testerman, Mary Hessinger, Myrna Weber, Pat Pesce, Slava Grinshpun. One Fab5 Team Badge went to Alicia Oliger and Paula Johnson. We have to give a special shoutout to John Abdelaziz who had two frames where he scored six points (two bocces plus all four points). Manny Morais also joined the ranks with one Fab6. The Club also thanked its fabulous volunteers by presenting Volunteer Awards for 2025: Callie Dean for Casino Night, Dolores Tricarico for Cinco de Mayo Party, Karen Barnes for the Fab5 Award Design and Creation and lastly to Tom Baubilt for his continuous volunteer help at a range of Bocce Club Events. We couldn't do all we do without the help of all of you. Thank you for your generous donation of your time and talent. Written by Jackie Crosby, (760) 390-2885 Bocce
