Humane Society Event What a great, successful event we had on May 30. The weather was perfect and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We were lucky to not have a parking issue. San Diego Humane Society licensed 25 dogs (YEAH) and micro-chipped three dogs (a record for our events from the past). Ranch House Vet gave out 23 rabies shots for free for those needing to license their dogs. ALMA dog rescue had the cutest puppies, and one puppy from the rescue was happily adopted and will make a great addition to her new family. Dirty Little Paws had pictures of the cats and kittens that were available and had people expressing an interest. No More Boring Cakes, who bring their products to the Clubhouse Friday mornings, did a brisk business. We also had a representative from Animal Pad rescue (the son of a resident) with his very sweet foster dog Topper who is looking for a new forever home. One resident will be selling a therapeutic pet bed and had a sample for people to have their pets try out. The amount of pet donations was above and beyond our expectations which made the pet rescues very happy. Visitors also made monetary donations to the PLC and other vendors that were present at the event – thank you to the very generous OHCC residents. I want to send thanks to the OHCC residents who volunteered their time to make the event a success and to the Photography Club who took beautiful pictures. I can send you the link. Also, a very big thank you to OHCC Clubhouse staff for helping with setting up the event - we couldn't have done it without them. As I said, our event was successful and fun. As a last note - our PLC brunch will be Sat., Aug. 1, (more details to follow) and is free for PLC members as of Aug. 1. If you want to join, the cost is $10 per household, and checks should be made out to OHCC Pet Lovers Club.
