| OHCC LIVING | JULY 2026 | 43 Walkers and Hikers I'm over the hill… but at least the view is great. As our nation gets ready to celebrate its 250th birthday, the OHCC Walkers/Hikers club is getting ready to celebrate another great year of walks and hikes. We have led several conditioning hikes and many delightful walks around San Diego and Orange Counties. We celebrated with an enjoyable afternoon party on June 28 and talked about what we have in store in the months ahead and welcomed new members and new ideas for walks and hikes. On Memorial Day 2026, we continued our newly celebrated holiday tradition of a morning walk at nearby Buena Vista Park. I have led this relatively easy 2.5 mile walk in the morning of the last three Thanksgivings. In addition to Thanksgiving, in 2026, we have added Presidents Day and Memorial Day walks at Buena Vista to our schedule. It is a great way to exercise and enjoy the great scenery, beautiful rock formations and woodsy smells before we get together with friends and family for holiday celebrations. Please be on the lookout for a morning walk at Buena Vista on July Fourth, Labor Day, and more! We try and schedule coastal walks during the summer months. We plan on going in July and August to Torrey Pines Beach Trail, Oceanside Harbor, the Marvin Gerst Trail in Del Mar and Moonlight Beach in San Diego. As always, we welcome both guest leaders or recommendations for a great walk or hike. If you have an idea for a walk or hike but do not want to lead it, please reach out to our club and let us know. We hope to see you on a trail in the near future. Written by Marla Reiter In July we celebrate 250 years of America. Let's all celebrate in our own way this month. We hope you will try our Senior Fitness exercise classes this year – It is ongoing and not too late to come and enjoy Chair Yoga classes with our live Instructors Cheryl Todd and Jennie MacGoy, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for only $5 per class in the Hall from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm. Please come early to sign up and pay your $5 per class attended if it is your desire to continue. Your first time is a free class so you can see if it is a fit for you. Instructor Tatis Cervantes-Aiken offers her Chair- to-Mat class for free on Tuesday from 8 to 9 am in the Lamia Room in the Clubhouse. Please bring your own mat and a towel. This class is free each and every time because our instructor, Tatis, lives in Ocean Hills Country Club. Have you joined the Senior Fitness Club for 2026? It only will cost you $5 per year with a check made out to the Senior Fitness Club and given to the front desk to be placed in the club folder. You will then get emails if any class is canceled or to communicate other important information about our club. Please join now if you have not already done so. Our three instructors are looking forward to meeting you in class. Written by Carol Farrell, Secretary Senior Fitness Club
