12 FOUR SEASONS TERRA LAGO ROADRUNNER | AUGUST 2026
By Robert Hartley
People oen ask me why I walk.
e truth is, it was never about
breaking records. It was about
proving that one person, taking one
step at a time, can make a dierence.
When I began this journey, I had
no idea it would lead to more than
10 million steps in just 258 days,
setting multiple walking records
along the way. Since 2020, those
steps have grown to more than 38
million. e last 10 million was
done in eight-and-a-half months.
But if you ask me what I'm most
proud of, it isn't the miles. It's
the people. e veterans I've met
who needed encouragement. e
children who discovered that
kindness is something they can
practice every day. e families,
friends, and neighbors who
reminded me that hope is still alive
when we choose to care for one
another.
Every step has been a reminder
that our greatest legacy isn't what we
accomplish for ourselves — it's what
we inspire in others.
My dream is to build e
Kindness Walk into a movement
that helps children, veterans,
schools, and communities discover
the simple power of kindness.
Every step matters. Together, we
can create something that lasts far
beyond any walking record — a
legacy of kindness that continues to
touch lives for generations.
