By Elaine Holmes, City of Indio Mayor e Indio Public Safety Campus represents one of the City's largest investments in public safety infrastructure, bringing police, a new re station, dispatch, and emergency support services together on one campus to improve coordination, eciency, and emergency response. e campus was designed with future growth in mind, ensuring Indio's rst responders have the facilities and technology needed to serve one of the fastest-growing communities in the Coachella Valley. Public safety remains one of the City's highest priorities. As Indio continues to grow, our investments in public safety infrastructure must grow alongside it. e Police Headquarters completes another critical piece of the City's long-term vision for a fully integrated Public Safety Campus. Bringing police operations together in a modern headquarters improves eciency, supports ocer wellness and training, enhances collaboration with other emergency services, and creates a better experience for residents accessing police services. is investment reects thoughtful planning and responsible stewardship, ensuring the City is prepared to meet the needs of today's residents while planning for tomorrow. Phase One: Complete: e rst phase of the Public Safety Campus opened in November 2024 following approximately two years of construction and a $50 million investment. Completed facilities include: • A new 13,500-square-foot Fire Station • A new 7,000-square-foot Dispatch Center • A new 22,000-square-foot Public Safety Services Building Together, these facilities have strengthened emergency response capabilities while creating a centralized campus that encourages collaboration among public safety professionals. Phase Two: Police Headquarters: e groundbreaking held in June 2026 marks the next major milestone in completing the Public Safety Campus for a new police headquarters. e approximately $45 million Police Headquarters will become the operational home of the Indio Police Department and will provide modern facilities that support ocers, professional sta, and the community. e headquarters will include: • Modern oces and workspaces • Community service counters • Training and meeting rooms • Interview rooms • Fitness and wellness space • Locker rooms • Public meeting areas • Enhanced technology and communications infrastructure Project Timeline: • Construction Mobilization: Spring 2026 • Groundbreaking Ceremony: Summer 2026 • Beam Signing ("Go Vertical"): Fall 2026 • Building Completion & Ribbon Cutting: Winter 2027/2028 • Demolition of Existing Headquarters & Project Completion: Spring 2028 Indio Police Department Headquarters & Public Safety Campus FSTL Blue is a grassroots political organization at FSTL focused on electing progressive candidates, advancing progressive values and engaging local voters.
