| LIFE IN SOLERA | AUGUST 2026 | 7 During the next few months, the members of the Finance Committee will be reviewing the Reserve Study for June 1, 2026 – May 31, 2027. We will be looking at each item which has a useful life of 0 – 3 years left. This review will assist the Board and Management to better understand items that must be replaced and those that can wait a bit longer. We look at three (3) years since this is the time left when the reserve funds are "assigned" to the items. We can then determine an approximate amount to be spent during the year on replacement items. Keep in mind that reviewing the Reserves is not the required function of the Finance Committee, however we feel obligated to help. We are responsible for reviewing the monthly financial statements and general ledger postings (trying to ensure items are paid for out of the correct funds of Operating, Capital Improvement, or Reserves) and making quarterly and year-end reports to the Board of Directors. We also make recommendations to the Board for reinvesting our maturing CDs. Reviewing the bank and investment statements to ensure our funds have FDIC insurance. We do not tell management or the Board how to spend money. We have been working with other committees regarding funding for projects; however, we can only provide recommendations. . ~ Marcia Casem, Chairperson Thank you to all who have donated books to our library! We don't have a budget to buy books, so the only way we obtain new books is through donations from Solera residents. In general, our readers prefer novels, so most of the space in our library is taken by fiction books, including mystery and detective novels and general fiction novels. Our sections on romance, science fiction and westerns have been expanding recently, so if you like those types of books, take a look at what we have available. If you have small quantities of books to donate, simply place them on the book return area in the library. For larger quantities, please contact Tom Chase by email at tdc4620@aol.com.
