| OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2026 | 29 In years past, the Photo Club has gone dark in July and August. This year, we're going to try to put together a couple of workshops in July and August, having them at the usual meeting times. In the July workshop, Mike McMahon of the Carlsbad Senior Center taught us about the updated version of Google Photos, which now has some editing capabilities that leave Apple's Photos app in the dust. For the August workshop the topic will be to review changes made to the Photos app, in the mobile versions (iPhone, iPad) and in the desktop version. We are hopeful that Mike will be able to present this as well. Mike has been teaching classes at OHCC since more than a decade ago. In the fall, we plan to have a group outing to downtown San Diego and the waterfront. The concept is that we'll have an assignment to shoot photos as if for a magazine. In September, we'll meet in the Clubhouse and receive our "assignment." In October, we'll actually go downtown and take photos. We'll investigate ways of getting there, possibly using carpools, or even better, the Coaster. We'll each assemble our favorite photos and send them in, and then in November we'll get together and review the results in the Clubhouse. Seaport Village is undergoing changes, so if someone is going there before our photo shoot, it might be helpful to report what the current conditions are. We're planning to have a holiday social in the Clubhouse on Dec. 17. A couple of bottles of bubbly might appear. It's okay as long as we don't charge for it. The Photo Club meets monthly on the third Thursday at 1 pm in the Lamia Room, unless we decide to go offsite. To join, drop off a $10 check to OH Photography Club at the front desk. ~ Jim McDonough, jamespmcdonough@gmail.com Photography Music Lovers The Music Lovers Club is dedicated to bringing a variety of musical experiences to the Ocean Hills Country Club community.
