FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2026 71 Our summer session is in full swing with play outdoors at The Courts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am to 12 pm. Mondays and Fridays are designated for "general play" with all skill levels welcome. Wednesdays have been designated for "advanced play" and members wishing to participate on that day have to demonstrate proficiency in a variety of volleyball skills. We also play indoors at The Summit on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Tuesdays from 11 am to 1 pm have been set aside for developing players. The first hour of play we will be practicing various volleyball skills and the second hour we will play games, but with no spiking or hard hitting. Thursday is evening general play volleyball from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. We secured this new time to encourage those of you who still work to give water volleyball a try. Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm is for general indoor play. During the summer you can play water volleyball six days a week, with certain days set aside for players of various skill levels. So, no excuses, come out and give it a go. Water volleyball is a great way to get out of the house for some low-impact exercise. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to be a member of the club to play, and all ages, heights and skill levels can participate! Our first stop was historic Pioneertown, a movie set built in 1946 as a filming location for Hollywood westerns. We took the time to walk its dusty streets for an interesting glimpse into the golden age of cowboy films before we continued our journey along the rugged Burns Canyon Road. As the trail gradually transitioned from the iconic Joshua trees of the desert to the cool pine forests of the San Bernardino Mountains, the changing landscape made for an incredible and scenic off-road experience. From Burns Canyon, we entered Holcomb Valley, the site of Southern California's largest gold rush during the 1860s. Rich in mining history, the valley provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing lunch in front of one of its historic cabins, allowing our group to appreciate both the area's natural beauty and its colorful past. After exploring the valley's historic sites and enjoying the peaceful mountain surroundings, we continued on to Big Bear, completing a remarkable trail that combined challenging terrain, beautiful scenery, and fascinating history into one memorable day of four- wheeling. If you are interested in joining us, our meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month in the RCN Conference Room at 6:30 pm and we typically schedule an outing for Thursday of the same week. We look forward to seeing you there. ~ Scott D.
