FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2026 53
The f lagpole and the f lag in the Veterans Park are the solutions
to stiff requirements. Since the park is surrounded by homes, the
noise from clanging metal and snapping cloth had to be addressed.
Lightweight aluminum f lagpoles with plastic accessories are
available. A 20' one is made in five sections with plastic hardware
to secure the f lag. I purchased one for my backyard which often has
a 30-mph wind chute. I installed a 4'x3' USA f lag and a 3'x 2' POW/
MIA f lag beneath. During the first windstorm, pole section #2 near
the base bent in half. Subsequently, I now have a 16' f lagpole with
two smaller f lags. It has survived for five years.
Residents who live adjacent to the park or walk through the park
can attest that this area is a strong wind chute from either the east
or west. In storms the military f ly small "Storm Flags" to preserve
both the pole and the f lags. Since our f lag has a solar light and f lies
24/7, it is not raised and lowered daily and semi-permanent storm
f lags "Keeps on Flying." For ceremonies, we raise a larger "Garrison
or Ceremonial" f lag. ~ Len Tavernetti, ltavernetti@hotmail.com

Tails & Trails -
All Pets
You won't want to miss this fun event! Name at Tune, Animal
Style Two, is a fundraiser on Aug. 14 at 6 pm in The Lodge Ballroom
and features songs from artists and bands with animals in their
name. It's events like these that enable Tails & Trails to help
animals in our community.
Some residents may be new here at Four Seasons and may not
be aware of our Tails & Trails group. We're a group of volunteers
who assist in the safety and overall well-being of the pets living
here. This includes assisting in the recovery of lost pets, helping to
rehome a pet, if needed, and conducting pet-related special events.
We're always looking for new volunteers. If you love animals and
want to make a difference, we would love to have you as a volunteer.
