36 | THE COLONY NEWS | AUGUST 2026 | If you'd like to try something new, our instructor will be back from summer break starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, and accepting new students. Beginner's class is taught from 4:30 to 5:15 pm followed by more advanced from 5:15 to 6 pm. Classes are held in the Auditorium and are only $5 per class with the first being FREE, so you can try before you buy. Don't worry about shoes, our instructor will loan clogging shoes until you decide whether you want to buy your own. This is a FUN class to learn how to Clogg with no expectations for anyone to join the performance group. Clogging is a form of American Folk Dance with taps on the shoes. It's a great way to exercise your body and brain. Studies show that dancing is a major tool in the fight against Alzheimer's and dementia. If you're interested, please call Mary at the above number. Clogging By Mary Seifert, 951-304-3503 This month's dinner will be Monday, Aug. 10, at 5 pm in the Auditorium. The entertainment will be the Skylarks, a group of lovely female voices. They always end their performances with God Bless America, so let's join in the spirit and wear red, white, and blue outfits. The dinner menu will be pasta and garden salad with garlic bread. If you would like a vegetarian entrée or grilled chicken breast, you can request these, which should be noted on your check. The checks for dinner are $23 (for members) and $26 for guests. You need to have the checks (payable to Colony Singles) in the box at Reception no later than Monday, Aug. 3. To cancel or change your dinner reservation you must notify Paula Parra at 949-888-6550 by Aug. 3. If this will be your first time, your dinner price will be $15. Please let Paula Parra know so we can have a greeter watch for you. We're looking forward to seeing you at 5 pm in the Auditorium. BYOB! Colony Singles By Jan Foster
