AUGUST: e Month at Moves at Its Own Pace August has a funny way of making time seem to slow down. The days are long, the afternoons are warm, and even the neighborhood squirrels appear to be conserving energy. Around our community, August is less about racing through the day and more about enjoying the little moments. Morning walks are still popular, although many of us have become expert weather forecasters. "Better get going before it hits 90 degrees!" has become the unofficial community motto. By lunchtime, you'll find most residents practicing another important summer activity — staying comfortably indoors with a good book, a puzzle, or perhaps a well-earned afternoon nap. Of course, the community pool remains one of the busiest places around. It's amazing how a quick swim can turn into an hour- long visit filled with laughter, vacation stories, gardening tips, and recommendations for the best local tacos. August is also prime tomato season. Gardeners seem to have only two settings: "I have no tomatoes" or "Please take six pounds of tomatoes before I have to build another pantry." If someone knocks on your door carrying a paper bag, there's a good chance it's those lemons for lemonade you've been waiting for. As summer begins its gentle countdown toward fall, let's enjoy these sunny days, wave to our neighbors, and take time to appreciate the friendships that make our community such a wonderful place to call home. Here's wishing everyone a safe, relaxing, and laughter-filled August. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and remember, September will arrive soon enough. There's no need to rush it!
