From Courtney Taylor, Publisher: Nature is out to get us. Lately there have been a lot of bison attacks. A 65-year-old grandfather was chased by a bison at Yellowstone National Park and tossed into the air like a rag doll, coming down hard and breaking his femur. What is the lesson? Don't go where the bison are. A few years ago, I was in Hawaii and went out to snorkel. No, I didn't see a bison. In fact, there were no fish. The water was murky but I kept swimming out, at least 100 yards, while hubby watched from the beach. I was swimming along and decided to look up. There was a dark mass with a sharp fin that I nearly hit. I screeched the brakes, not an easy thing do while swimming, and did a U-turn. I swam using just my arms (didn't want to kick my legs and alert the shark that there was what looked like a juicy seal in a black one-piece in front of him) as fast as I could to the beach. A father was swimming out carrying his young son and I yelled, "SHARK!" He looked at me, confused. Seriously? How is "SHARK!" confusing? But the kid would be a delicious appetizer for a shark so I yelled it again. My husband heard me yell and he sprung into action. He stood up and put his hands on his hips. Smart. Another, more helpful, man may have waded into the water but he knows his body is definitely seal-shaped. I made it back to shore and spread the word to the others on the beach. Then an old man came down and put his stuff down next to us. He was clearly fixing to go in the water so I told him there's a shark out there. He said, "I know. That's what I'm here for. There's lots of sharks." He then waded into the water and was never seen again. At least by us, because we left. After an internet search, the lessons I learned were don't snorkel in murky waters and don't be seal-shaped. Another thing that's coming for us is The Big One. To misquote Mark Twain, "Everyone's always talking about earthquakes but no one does anything about them." My aunt is obsessed with watching YouTube videos about all the earthquakes around the world and often texts me, "Fill your bathtub with water." I went to an earthquake class held by the fire department and they said, "Don't stand in doorways because things like knives and microwaves become projectiles and could kill you." Bison impaling, shark attack, and being clobbered by a microwave. At least folks would have something interesting to talk about at the funeral. | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2026 | 75 Buy your essential BBB blinker uid. Ha ha! Not like those tyrants of Temecula! It would be good if there was a uid to make cars stop at stop signs! So glad the Joke is back! Yay! Sandra G. USE YOUR BLINKERS!!! Diane S. ank you so much for bringing the joke back to Lifestyles, it gets me to open the magazine and look for it and then of course read the articles. I was so disappointed when it went away. Jamie T. Anyone else old enough to remember when we used hand signals instead of blinkers? No elbow joint uid needed Lol. Emily P. My question is "What are blinkers?" Laurie W. ere are many residents here that don't know how to use their blinkers. Maybe a gallon of your Blinker Fluid should be given to all residents. Blink away! Great advertisement joke! Sylvia B. When I received my Lifestyles last Sunday, I began perusing it page by page. I got to page 61, where I discovered Blinker Fluid! My absolute rst thought was … Holy cow! Get the Joke is back! So thrilled. It was truly missed and I thought it was only a matter of time before the masses took over and forced its return! Good job. Sallie F. WELCOME BACK! So glad that the no sense of humor knuckleheads listened to the people who do have a SOH. As to the joke...my pun response: BBB is a 'uid situation." Victor G. Glad you are back! Blinker uid?
