We have been publishing the Breeze for almost 15 years and strive every month to create a fun, easy-to-read piece with a consistent format throughout the publication. Unfortunately, the use of AI by some submitters has disrupted these efforts. Recently, with the explosion of access to AI, many people are creating graphics and using the technology to write articles. Many graphics are cluttered with words scattered everywhere and don't fit the elevated aesthetic of Breeze. Starting with the November issue, we will begin enforcing the new "no complex AI graphic" rule. We ask if you use AI, you create a simple graphic (logo for your club or group, for example) with minimal words. Simple and clean graphics only — no posters or flyers. Your article is where club info belongs. Also, please avoid using AI to write your entire article. It replaces your voice and personality, something we have enjoyed over the years, with an artificial cadence and formulaic style. And we love seeing photos of your smiling faces enjoying your club activities every month. An AI graphic can't recreate that — and we don't want it to. As neighboring 55+ communities, we share more than just a common boundary. We share a retirement dream of clear skies, peaceful neighborhoods, and quiet desert evenings. Today, that shared dream is facing an unprecedented threat. On the eastern edge of Sun Lakes, a multi-million-square- foot mega-warehouse complex, Sunset Crossroads, has been proposed by a wealthy out of state industrial developer. Allowed to move forward, this industrial sprawl will bring an estimated 1,700+ heavy-duty diesel trucks and tens of thousands of vehicle trips through our shared local corridors every single day. The Sunset Crossroads developer stands to make a fortune, while our communities pay the price: • Health Risks: Thousands of senior residents will be exposed to round-the-clock diesel exhaust, compromising our air quality. • Traffic & Noise: Massive rigs will congest local streets, creating constant noise pollution and gridlock right at our doorstep. • Safety: Increased big-rig traffic poses a direct hazard to local drivers and strains our infrastructure. This developer believes they can quash our concerns with texts, and an expensive, glossy public relations campaign focusing on the benefits of a Sam's Club, restaurants, parks, etc. without mentioning that 90 percent of the land is dedicated to mega- warehouses. Through a monumental, grassroots effort, Sun Lakes successfully gathered thousands of signatures to fight back, officially placing the referendum on the upcoming ballot. The decision is now in the hands of Banning voters, but we cannot win this David vs. Goliath battle alone. Though the project sits on the Banning side of the line, diesel smoke, traffic congestion, and noise pollution do not stop at city borders. What happens to Sun Lakes will directly impact the property values, tranquility, and quality of life at Four Seasons. We need our neighbors!
