| OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2026 | 43 Golf Club In this month's article, we are sharing some of the final stages of our lake. In August, there were significant amounts of sod purchased and delivered to OHCC to fill in the 17th, 14th and 11th fairways. That process took approximately three days to lay it down and about a month to heal. With the back nine opening, many golfers are preparing for a new challenge and of course, extra exercise. Guys and Dolls was held on Aug. 15 — congratulations to Mike Stern for his 15th hole-in-one at OHCC, this time #7 (see AI-generated photo at left). Mike has a total of 25 over his golfing escapades! August 24 our TA tournament at El Camino Country club met groups with extreme heat. Congrats to Komisarek's, Cannon, and McAlister group for low gross on the day, to team Sullivan and Deutman for first place first f light, and to all our f light winners. CTP were Rich Dameron and Karen Gilmore. MC winners were Lance Erickson, Jay Sanders, Mark Deutman, Don Strelic, and Raul Chavez. In September, we held a guys and dolls on the 15th, and those winners are available to view on ohgc.net. The golf club will also hold its annual elections for board members so please attend our general session on Oct. 15. Our annual Volunteer luncheon will be Oct. 29 — without them there is no "US." We will have our final touring amateurs on Oct. 12 at the Welks and we want to thank Mike and Annette Guillory for running it over the last several years. Also big thanks to our sponsors who will continue to support us AMADA, Shadowridge at Melrose and O'Connell as we transition into more special tournaments right here at home at our beautiful golf course. Golf Course hours are: 7:50 am due to course set up and each day. The actual closing time is on our website and is a moving time; for example, as of writing this, it is 7:16 pm based on dusk safety. Players are to be off the course no later than this time. Please check website if you are planning a late start time. Happy October idea for lake art! Details are on the poster in lobby and in the OHCC Flip Book. Gambling starts just after 5 pm with blackjack, roulette, and craps with dealers from Casino Knights. Dance to music hosted by our Casino Night DJ and get in a little practice for the Charleston Dance Contest. The Costume Contest and Charleston Dance Contest happen a little later. To please the palate, throughout the evening little plates including shrimp cocktail, beef sliders, margarita f latbread pizza and more will be available. The gambling closes at 8 pm and sets the stage for the more than 20 gift giveaways. Another infamous October Bocce Club event is the annual Harvey Wallbanker Tournament. The name is inspired by our Club President's love of Harvey Wallbanger drinks and the bundt cake with the same name coupled with her love of Bocce. Come watch our bocce players compete for cash prizes where every shot must hit a side wall on the court before coming to a rest hopefully near the pallino. The year's tournament is Oct. 6 through 8 starting at 9 am. Never had a Harvey Wallbanker or too young to know what that is, call Jackie. Written by Jackie Crosby – (760) 390-2885 Bocce
