| LIFE IN SOLERA | OCTOBER 2026 | 7 They say, "Time goes by fast when you are having fun." I must be having a blast being on the Finance Committee. I have sat in on the Finance Committee meetings since I have been a member of the Board since 2019. I have said that although I enjoy being a board member, I have fun being on the Finance Committee. I believe Peter Marchi has been a member just over five years. One reason is the people I get to work with: Peter Marchi, John Crawford, Dave Gilford, and Diane Coffman. They are the foundation of this committee. They all have a financial and business background, and they continue to teach me things from a different perspective. If I miss something, they share what they find. That's what we do, we work together, teach each other, and have a couple of laughs along the way. I want to say "Thank You" to each of them for their continued dedication to Solera OVG, the Finance Committee, and for the time they spend each month going through the financial reports each month. I appreciate their dedication and time. Although at the time of writing this article, we have not yet received the financial reports for August, the committee will be presenting the first quarterly finance report. It will ref lect the balance of our Operating, Reserve, and Capital Improvement accounts. You will see the funds, especially in Reserves, after paying for the planned street repair/replacement. Forecasting our Reserves for the next phase will begin this month. We will look at the planned repair/replacements of various items in Reserves, as well as projected income to the Reserve account. By December, we will work with the Street Committee and determine if there will be available funds to complete another phase in the spring of 2027. We need to remember that due to increasing costs of materials in 2026, it made financial sense to complete two areas (1, 2a and 2b) at the same time, rather than one phase in 2026 and the other phase in 2027. Our recommendations will be presented to the Board for consideration. ~ Marcia Casem, Chairperson Finance Committee Thank you to all who have donated books to our library in recent weeks. We don't have a budget to buy books, so our only source of new books is donations from our Solera residents. Please remember that this is a library and our residents can borrow books to read at their leisure, but we expect that the borrowed books will be returned to us within a reasonable time for others to enjoy. ~ omas Chase Library Committee
