TERRAMOR BEYOND THE GATES | FALL 2026 21 With more than 130 members, the Terramor Pickleball Club has grown into one of the community's most active and welcoming organizations since its founding in 2017. What began as a shared interest in one of America's fastest-growing sports has evolved into a vibrant community where neighbors connect, stay active, and build lasting friendships. The club offers a full calendar of activities throughout the year, providing opportunities for players of every skill level. Members enjoy club parties, round-robin tournaments, competitive leagues, skill clinics, private lessons, open play sessions, and the annual Fall Classic Tournament. Working in partnership with the HOA, the club has also helped enhance the pickleball facilities through a variety of improvements, including upgraded courts and surrounding grounds, a paddle rack system, practice boards for player development, additional court lighting, the installation of an AED near the courts, and donated outdoor furniture for players and spectators. More than just a place to play, the Terramor Pickleball Club embodies the spirit of community. Members encourage one another, celebrate each other's successes, and create an environment where everyone from beginners to experienced players feels welcome. Submitted by Mike Baum Pickleball Club 55+ Cedarwood resident, Joyce Smith, has been a crafter for more than 40 years. Her mother was a single mother to six kids. Joyce would watch her mom sew and alter her Goodwill Store clothing purchases. In the late 60s, Los Angeles junior high girls were required to take a sewing class, which led Joyce and her sister to make some of their own clothes. When she married, she made draperies, pillows, and other home decor. One year, she made a set of fabric mice dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus as a gift for a friend. That friend ordered sets for her friends, and as more orders came in, Joyce's craft business began. She eventually opened her Etsy store business during Covid. The goal of Terramor's "Let Get Crafty With Joyce" classes is to introduce others to the fun and ease of creating home and holiday decor. Each class is less than two hours, and Joyce provides all of the items needed to complete the project. Crafting is not only for women. Men are always welcome to join the classes!
