10 TERRAMOR BEYOND THE GATES | FALL 2026 Spoligh Sry I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Lawrence Kinsey, an impressive 18-year-old Terramor resident who was selected as the recipient of the 2026 Terramor Men's Club Scholarship. Lawrence and his family moved to Terramor in 2021. After the passing of his father a couple of years ago, the family chose to remain in the community they had come to call home. Lawrence recently graduated from Santiago High School, where he spent four years balancing academics with his commitment to the school's basketball program. His mother, Tonya, works from home, and his 14-year-old sister, London, is now a high school sophomore. Lawrence learned about the Terramor Men's Club Scholarship through his mother and decided to apply. Following a competitive application process and live interviews with the finalists, he was selected as this year's scholarship recipient. Lawrence said he was both humbled and surprised to receive the award. As of Aug. 20, he is officially a full-time student at Cal Poly Pomona, where he plans to major in Information Technology. His long-term goal is to work in the government defense industry. The scholarship will help offset the cost of books and other educational expenses, allowing him to focus on his studies. To help manage commuting costs, he has arranged his class schedule, so he only needs to be on campus three days each week. When asked what he is looking forward to most about college, Lawrence said he is excited to meet new people, broaden his experiences, and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. Lawrence also offered some thoughtful advice to current high school students. He encourages them to work hard, stay true to themselves, trust in God, and keep their faith. A regular attendee at Crossroads Church, he credits his faith as an important part of his life and personal growth. Lawrence speaks warmly about living in Terramor and appreciates the sense of community he and his family have found here. We are proud to have Lawrence and his family as neighbors and congratulate him on this well-deserved achievement. We wish him every success as he begins this exciting new chapter. Written by Linda Cota-Robles, Associate Editor As a servant of God, my purpose has always been to help others and support the community around me. Living in the Terramor community opened my eyes to a simple but important need: many residents wanted to participate in clubhouse events and activities but preferred not to drive. I felt called to step in and make community life more accessible, comfortable, and enjoyable for everyone. Out of that desire to serve, I began offering rides to residents, always at no charge to ensure they could stay connected and engaged. Over time, this grew into additional ways of helping, such as watering plants, collecting mail, and checking on homes while residents are away, giving them peace of mind during their travels. Helping others brings joy and purpose to my life. If I can support someone along this journey called life, then my living is not in vain. Through these acts of service, I hope to continue spreading kindness, encouragement, and care to the wonderful people who call this community home.
