| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | NOVEMBER 2026 | 31 Strength training is incredibly beneficial for people over 60. It helps maintain muscle mass, bone density and overall well-being. But Wait! ere's More! SASY is a small social group, wanting to grow larger, so is a great way for newcomers and old timers to get to know one another. We range from athletes to couch potatoes. We meet in the Lodge Ballroom on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8:30 am, but most come to the Bistro anytime between 8 am and class, to have a cup of coffee, or just to chat. It's a fun way to start the day and meet neighbors. While we stretch and lift to 12 recorded exercises, sitting in or standing behind chairs, we talk, share and, those whose schedule allow, follow up by chatting at an informal non-hosted breakfast in the Bistro. You may wonder… can a person build muscle after 60? Absolutely! While age related muscle loss (sarcopenia) is real, it's not irreversible. Strength training can help you gain muscle mass even in your golden years. The right combination of strength and holistic health can make a significant difference. Why is Strength Training Important in Older Adults? Maintain Bone Density: Both women and men are susceptible to bone loss after age 30. Strength training exposes your bones to mechanical load, helping maintain or increase bone mass and density. SASY is strength training with only 12 exercises for arms, legs and torso. The class is free. Again, we are a fun social/exercise group meeting in the Lodge Ballroom at 8:30 am, every Tuesday and Thursday. If you have questions regarding this class, please call Char Weakley at (951) 926-2599 or Cherrie Rau at (951) 282-8227. Submitted by Rosemary Endress Strong Adults Stay Young (SASY) Wow, it's November already. Where has this year gone? The holidays are approaching fast. Hopefully there will be lots of time with family and friends ahead for you – time with lots of good food. Now would be a good time to get a head start against all those holiday calories. Walk Fit Class is a good way to start. A full hour of aerobic walking burns about 350 calories. (Three times a week is 1,050 calories.) The class consists of nine different Leslie Sansone "Walk Fit" DVDs. The easy-to-follow routines are set to music with varying tempos. The complete class is four miles, but you can come late or leave early to shorten your routine and work at your own level. A few of the DVDs incorporate resistance bands (always optional). Some class members add light hand weights for added strength training. Stop by and give us a try. New members are always welcome! Both men and women! Class Schedule: Mon., Wed., Fri. 7:45 to 8:45 a. in the Lodge Ballroom. CLASS IS FREE ! For more information, contact Karen Tuvim (316) 260-0847. Walk Fit Bocce sign-ups for the 2027 season will be on Sun., Jan. 31 at 2 pm in the Multipurpose Room this year. Our Ballroom will be scheduled for remodel and carpet replacement so there will be no presentation as in previous years. Watch for more information about bocce in the next few months. ~ Ross Brunetto, Bocce Chairperson, (951) 926-8295 Bocce Everyone loves Mike. We swoon, hug and pet him. We also say, "Hi" to his dad, Terry Not everyone wanted to dress in costume for a Halloween photo :) Billiards Club If you like the game of pool and would like to meet and play like-minded players, please join us in the Billiards Room on Tuesdays from 9 am to 12 noon. The club participates with the Hemet Valley Pool Club; we host and travel to other 55+ communities and have tournaments with other teams. The game of choice is 1-15, it is a form of 8 Ball and it is a lot of fun. We are also interested in enlisting a few more players for our club. If this interests you, please come on out and join us for a morning of billiards. ~ Art Martel, Team Captain, (909) 973-8208
