Don't miss the "Back to the 50s for our Troops" fundraiser on Nov. 8 at 2 pm in the Clubhouse. Cost is $15 and all proceeds go to fund the mailing of packages to our troops. Music will be by DJ Blast. Bring your own beverages and snacks. | LIFE IN SOLERA | NOVEMBER 2026 | 33 At the end of this month, we will have been supporting our service men and women for 21 years. This unbelievable feat could not have happened without you. I do not have a count of the packages that my wife Linda and her lady friends first sent. As it was my duty to take them to the post office, as they packed them, I would estimate it at about 50. I started our count, when I re-started the care package project. To date, that count is 5,847 individual packages sent. Each package is usually shared with several service members. Can you imagine how many soldiers you have touched? Add to those packages, many more emails, cards, letters, and photos. Sadly this has cost money. The post office has more than doubled their fees during this time. I wish I could say their services have gone up as much, but that's another story. Over the years, we have had all sorts of fundraisers to cover the cost of postage. It is nice when the fundraiser gives back to the one who is donating. Our musical event will be one of those. I invite you all to attend the "Back To The 50s For The Troops" fundraiser, on Sun., Nov. 8 at 2 in the Clubhouse. It is table seating. 100 percent of any money raised goes for postage. I like the way the raff le is held at the end of the event. All items are on display, with a little paper bag in front. One can put as many of their tickets as they wish in the bag representing the item/s they wish to win. For tickets to the event, you can contact Marty Mangan at (909) 921-1144, or Peggy Rockwell at (909) 320- 8973. If you wish to donate an item or make a basket for the raff le, contact Diana Mangan at (951) 333-1986. Watch for the f lyers in the Mail Room, or I can email or text you one. You can always reach me with any questions regarding our Support Our Troops care package project at my email, call, or text. Better yet, stop by for a visit, and I can show you.
