Activities Director Corner I must say to those of you who missed our special string trio from the San Bernardino Symphony, you missed a very impressive evening. There were only about 25 residents in attendance that evening and everyone thoroughly felt themselves virtually caught up and transported by the music to some of the most prestigious concert halls. All of the musicians in the symphony are professionals and of the highest caliber. It was such a privilege to be able to enjoy such an intimate private concert. After the final piece was played it was obvious that those folks sitting in the Ballroom were hungering for more. I asked for a show of hands of those who would like us to arrange a group from Four Seasons to attend their next concert series. Everyone raised their hand! Some asked for a bus to be chartered to pick up concert goers at the Lodge and some just wanted group discount tickets that they could use when driving their own cars. I spoke with the Symphony's Marketing Director and arrangements are in the works. The Symphony is going to offer us a significant discount, so we will pursue this opportunity further. I didn't know until that evening that there was such an incredible music resource so close to home. No need to go all the way to L.A., San Diego or New York. Keep your eyes open for further details. 10 By Cindy Graves, Activities Director Calling all Crafters and those of you who are considering participating in this year's Craft Boutique, you only have one more month to get your inventory in order before the Saturday, Nov. 16, event date. I will be announcing in next month's Activities Director Corner the date for table sign-ups and registration as well as our organizational meeting. This year we are directed by the Board of Directors to make the Boutique self-supporting. That means that we will be collecting a $5 registration fee from all participants to go toward advertising and other expenses. This is one of three events where we have approval to advertise to the general public and where the community at large is invited to attend. Last year we had a wonderful turnout and many residents nearly completed their holiday shopping by the time the event was over. What a great way to find something unique, handcrafted and truly special for your loved ones. Stay tuned to next month's Breeze for the sign ups and meeting date and times. If you're a magic lover and you missed the last magic show, we have another one just for you (and everyone else). Mark down Saturday, Sept. 21, for the next show date. There will be two shows as usual, so come on down to the Lodge after Sept. 17, where you'll find a clipboard available for you to indicate which showing you prefer to attend; the 6:30 or 7:30 pm performance. There is no cost for admittance and all ages are welcome. Speaking of performances, The Reader's Theater group will be performing once again in our Ballroom on Friday, Oct. 4, at 6 pm. It was neat to hear and watch the stories and sound effects being played out for the "Old timey radio show" at W-FSB Radio. Tom Shelley is a resident and the Reader's Theater Director and he does a great job of putting these shows together. This is another one of those "Friday Night at the Lodge Shows" where you can bring in your dinner from Smitty's or just bring your own favorite beverage and enjoy a fun and free evening of entertainment. I hope you all had a pleasant and relaxing summer and are ready for all of the fall and winter activities planned for your enjoyment here at the Lodge.
